Money Saving Tips

Helping your money go a little further

Over the last few years, a particularly heavy recession has left millions of people struggling to make ends meet. The need to reduce spending is vital for many to be able to keep their heads above water, and should be taken seriously. Thankfully, there are many things we can all start doing to at least make our pounds stretch a little further.

There are several major supermarket chains in the UK, each of which claims to be the best. They vary greatly in price, so checking out the bargains in the one that is generally the cheapest can save a small fortune on the weekly shopping basket. Look for special offers, such as two for ones, and snap up the bargains.

Special Offers

Keep an eye out for special price reductions, such as on items that are close to their sell-by dates. Always make sure you will consume that product, though, because some people fall into the trap of purchasing them and not using them in time. The last thing you need during economic difficulties is a false economy.

Saving Money in the Home

In the home itself, showering is substantially cheaper than taking a bath, and over the course of a month will save a tidy sum. There’s less water, of course, but also the cost of heating that water is significantly reduced.

When heating the home, make sure radiators are switched off in those rooms which aren’t being used. And if possible have the heating on for a hour less than usual every day. The savings will soon mount up, as heating costs are a major outlay, especially during the colder months.
